Kanchanaburi Province, in western Thailand, is known for its national parks of dense jungle, waterfalls and limestone caves. Seven-tiered waterfalls can be found at Srinakarin Dam National Park, while Erawan National Park has aqua-blue falls (plus elephants, monkeys and cobras). The province’s WWII-era Burma Railway, built by prisoners of war, was even immortalized in the film “The Bridge on the River Kwai.”
During this tour, you’ll discover this province so rich in history. Cross the Bridge on the River Kwai, ride the Burma Railway, built by the Empire of Japan to support its forces in World War II, visit the Tham Krasea Buddha Cave, and so much more during this 11 hour tour! Archaeological remains found in Kanchanaburi date back to the 4th century, with evidence of trade with surrounding regions at that time. Very little is known about the historical Khmer influence in Kanchanaburi, but Prasat Muang Sing, one of the country's most well-known Khmer sites, provides evidence of their occupation.
Your host, Aritat, is an incredible tour guide and you’ll ride in his private car to get from place to place during this day tour. He enjoys showing guests the beauty of this land and you’ll learn a lot from him. Feel free to ask any questions and let him know if there’s a specific point of interest you’d like to discover!
