What to Expect

This guided cruise across Doubtful Sound is the perfect opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the spectacular scenery of New Zealand. Doubtful Sound, located in Fiordland, is the second-most-popular attraction in New Zealand thanks to its pristine wilderness, captivating mountains and natural wildlife.

You will depart from the visitor's center at 10am from Manapouri. Then, it's time for a one-hour cruise across Lake Manapouri to West Arm. Once there, you will head to Manapouri Power Station to board a 45-minute bus over Wilmott Pass. Your cruise boat will be waiting for you when you arrive.

On this tour, you will cruise across the sound for three hours, which will allow plenty of time to soak up your gorgeous surroundings. Be sure to have your camera ready, as you may spot dolphins or perhaps even penguins amongst other sea and sky creatures. Feel free to bring a packed lunch to enjoy as you sail. Snacks are avaible for purchase on board; cash only.

After your tour, you will return to shore, where your bus driver will be waiting to return you to West Arm. Then, you will cruise back to Manapouri.

The sighting of wildlife is not a guarantee and lack of wildlife sightings is not considered reason for refund.

Cancellation Policy:

Transfers: Reservations can be transferred to another date (subject to availability) up to 24 hours prior to departure with no transfer fee incurred.
Cancellations: Cancellations must be received 24 hours prior to trip departure. Trips are non-refundable after this point.
We reserve the right to cancel trips or substitute another river or section of river for safety reasons.

Pre-payment by credit card and subsequent confirmation by the supplier is accepted as confirmation of your booking.
All transactions are conducted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). Due to exchange rate fluctuations, at times there may be some variance in the amounts refunded compared to the amount initially charged. The supplier (and associated companies) does not accept any liability for these variances or any subsequent credit card/bank charges relating to these transfers to customer's accounts. Payments using Amex, JCB or Diners incur a non-refundable 3% surcharge.

All agreements and contracts shall be subject solely to New Zealand law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts. In the event of a cancellation or amendment to your booking, notification period is in NZ time (NZST).

All instructions given by the supplier should be followed by all travellers at all times during any experience operated by the supplier. These experiences are for the safety of all travellers and to ensure the best experience is had by all. Parents/guardians are responsible for the safety of the children which they travel with.

In the event of an emergency:

In the unlikely event of an emergency during this experience, all guides will respond as necessary to ensure all travellers safety. The guides will contact emergency services as required and work with relevant parties to ensure safety for all involved.

Travellers should be aware that in New Zealand any claims for personal injury are limited by a government scheme and passengers should obtain their own insurance should they wish to do so.

Cancellations:

In the event of a cancellation or amendment to your booking, refunds will only be granted when the supplier receives notification at least 24 hours prior (NZ time) to departure date.
If you have booked through an agent, third party booking site or discount website, the terms and conditions specific to these booking platforms will need to be adhered to. The supplier's cancellation policy is only valid for those who booked directly through the supplier. This is either through the supplier's website or in store on Shotover Street, Steamer Wharf, Town Centre Te Anau or the Milford Sound Terminal.

Cruise

Cancellations: No refund is given if less than 24 hours (Milford Sound) notice is received prior to departures.
Coach, Cruise, Coach: In event of road closures due to weather, and the result is that cruise departures cannot be reached, full refunds per person will be given. For Self-Drivers if road closures prevent reaching Go Store check- in, full refunds will be given.
Dietary requirements will be catered to at best of ability – not all dietary requirements will be met.
Self-Drive: Those choosing to self-drive must allow adequate time to arrive, park and check-in at either Milford or Doubtful Sound Go Store. Failure to check-in and board the boat with adequate time will be considered a cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice and no refund will be given.
If the boat is unable to facilitate the experience, travellers can be transferred to a different date/time or potentially over to a Real Journeys cruise of consistent timings if required.
