Visit all four&nbsp;historic stone &quot;rest houses&quot; that were once part of a grand walking experience from Christchurch to Akaroa. This exceptional day walk is one of Christchurch&#39;s best-kept secrets.

&nbsp;

This tour starts by driving up the Port Hills through the affluent suburb of Cashmere, to the first stop at the &ldquo;Sign of the Takahe&rdquo; (the first historic rest house). Then, you&#39;ll continue to the &ldquo;Sign of the Kiwi&rdquo; where you will get uninterrupted views of Christchurch and your first glimpse of Lyttelton Harbour.

Heading south along summit road and out of the city you&#39;ll&nbsp;stop at the third rest house the &ldquo;Sign of the Bellbird&rdquo; for morning tea. From there, it&rsquo;s a short but very scenic drive to Gebbies Pass at the southern end of Lyttelton Harbour.

&nbsp;

Your walk begins at Gebbies Pass, first traversing through open farmland before heading into pine forests. After 45 min&nbsp;the track breaks out of the trees and into open tussock grasslands affording beautiful views of Lyttelton Harbour and Quail Island. Along the way, you&#39;ll pass by a volcanic rock formation named the Remarkable Dykes&nbsp;before reaching the historic Packhorse Hut, where your&nbsp;guide will prepare lunch.

&nbsp;

With full bellies and replenished energy levels,&nbsp;you will have plenty of time to explore the area around the hut and get some photos before returning to Gebbies Pass. From Gebbies Pass, you&#39;ll return via the scenic coastal road passing through Governors Bay before heading back over the Port Hills, past the Sign of the Kiwi and on to Christchurch.

Your guide will drop you back at your accommodation or the Canterbury Museum&nbsp;in the city centre.

2.2 Payment must be made in full or the full amount held at the time of booking.

2.3 It is the responsibility of the booking agents or online booking site to provide a refund where is approved and required to do so by The Operator

5.1 A tour is cancelled by The Operator will receive a 100% refund including the associated booking fees

5.2 The Operator is not responsible for any additional or associated cost incurred by the participants if a tour is cancelled.

5.3 A tour may be cancelled by The Operator because of but not limited to the following reasons: Bad/un-suitable weather conditions, natural disasters, road closures, availability of staff, political or social unrest.

6. Refunds

6.1 Refunds will be provided in accordance with our terms and conditions.

6.2 Refunds are provided from the place of booking and will only be provided by The Operator if the original booking was made directly with The Operator.

7. Participant release (leaving a tour before the scheduled endpoint)

7.1 participants may leave a tour before the scheduled endpoint of a tour at their own expense.

7.2 Participants who leave a tour early are not entitled to any refunds or financial contributions.

7.3 Some locations used by The Operator are remote and may have a significant expense associated with leaving that location outside of the scheduled tour. The Operator by nature is not responsible for the organization or expense incurred in extracting a participant from a tour.
