What to Expect

Fall in love with stunning Kata Tjuta and Uluru as you take in The Rock at sunset - this tour is the perfect way to see the highlights of the Red Centre in just one day.

Where we visit

Pickups begin from outside your Alice Springs accommodation at approximately 6am.

From here, you'll hit the road to your first stop at Erldunda (the home of the Emu) for a buffet breakfast. Yum! After filling your belly, you'll continue the drive to Yulara. Make a stop along the way to check out Mount Connor, a distinctive sandstone monolith also know as Attila.

Arriving into Yulara at approximately 11:45 am, make a quick stop to stretch you'll legs. Your guides will provide you with a freshly made packed lunch to eat on the drive to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Stop at Kata Tjuta  (Olgas) for the first walk of the day. Head into Walpa Gorge and discover the incredible dome formations of Kata-Tjuta. On the return walk, take in the views of the open plains.

Afterwards, it's time to head to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you will have time to learn about the local Pitjantjatjara people, also referred to as the Anangu people. The Cultural Centre was built with 90,000 mud bricks with the help of the local Anangu people. It's built on a sacred site and has very special meaning.

After learning a little about the culture of the area, you'll head to the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock). From here you'll embark on a guided Mala Walk. The Mala Walk follows the north-west side of Uluru, where there are many examples of Anangu rock art. Hear stories about these paintings from your guide and marvel at the sheer vertical walls of The Rock. Your guide will also tell Dreamtime stories of the Anangu People.

Once you've completed the walk, you'll meet the bus at the Kuniya car park at the back of Uluru. From here, you'll embark on the second Uluru walk of the day to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. Your guide will take you along a short track to the waterhole which is the home of an ancestral water snake called Wanampi. Your guide will share stories of local traditions and explain how the Anangu people traditionally used the waterhole for hunting. The caves around the waterhole contain rock art and were used in the past by Anangu people who are still alive today.

Then, as evening falls, it's time for the highlight of the day. Settle back to watch the breathtaking Uluru sunset with a glass of bubbly and a delicious Aussie BBQ. It's the perfect end to a spectacular day. After sunset hit the road back to Alice Springs.
