This Wineglass Bay walking tour departs from Hobart, heading east then following the Great Eastern Drive north. You'll travel through the seaside towns of Orford, Triabunna and Swansea making your way along the East Coast of Tasmania towards the Freycinet National Park. Enjoy brief stops along the way to take in some of the local highlights such as Raspins Beach (Orford) and The Bark Mill (Swansea).
Fuel up with a lunch stop at Coles Bay (meals not included), where you can enjoy an incredible selection of the freshest Tasmanian seafood from the Freycinet Marine Farm, or choose from the wide selection of seafood, dumplings and poke bowls available at Scale Fish, the Coles Bay takeaway shop. Alternatively, Granite, the stunning new bakery/cafe has plenty to offer too, or you can grab a coldie from the Iluka Tavern. If you didn't bring a drink bottle with you, make sure you take this opportunity to grab one for the after-lunch walk.
The walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and usually takes us around 45mins to get to the top. The 1.5 km walk is uphill on a rocky but well-constructed path with stone steps. As a group, you'll walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout where we help each other out to ensure everyone gets the magic shots of Tasmania’s most famous photographed views. Relish the excitement and emotions of the moment and take in the rewarding and world-famous view.
From the Lookout, you will be given the option to return to the start of the walk with your guide, or for the keen walkers, you can choose to spend the rest of your time completing the walk down to Wineglass beach (2hr return). There you can enjoy the famous white Wineglass Bay Beach sand between your toes, take a short stroll on the beach, take a swim in the stunningly clear ocean, or explore the rocky shoreline – the choice is yours!
If you choose to travel back with your guide, you will explore more of the Freycinet National Park through a series of short scenic walks. You’ll visit Honeymoon Bay or Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville Lookout. After about 4 hrs and 30 mins of fun and exploration in the Freycinet National Park, the group will reunite and jump aboard the bus again to make our way back to Hobart. The drive home is usually spent sharing your experiences and tales and celebrating this amazing day out. You'll arrive back at your accommodation around 6:30-7:00 pm.
